Before You Do.

A Poem

So cold.

Heart, numb.

Mouth, mute.

Apathetic.

Unapologetic.

I feel the pressure,

The fear, still unconfirmed.

I refuse complacency.

I dread being stringed along.

Something’s fading.

Smile, unobtrusive.

Truth, unpalatable.

Water on fire.

Everything, always consensual

The stories, predictable.

The unspoken, loud,

But words fail you.

Before you catch your breath,

Before you do,

Here’s your goodbye.
