COULDN’T LET GO

A Poem

Through my eyes she saw the desire,

The longing, the passion, the weakness.

She took my head and laid it on her lap,

And for a moment I was home.

She kissed the spot and on turned me,

In love I fell, smitten I got, for the first time.

My lips, my eyes, my ears yearned when away she was.

In me she’d lit a fire which no waters could put out.

A day came, her first love came,

Through my eyes she saw the pain.

Off they went and left my carcass burning.

She couldn’t let go, her first love.

I can’t let go, my first love.

This was my very first poem written sometime in 2014 while I was still in high school. I have tried to keep it as original as the day I wrote it.
